The slab looks fine. The ground under it already left.
Void fill is the one service we offer that fixes a problem you can't see. The slab is at grade, nothing's cracked, there's nothing to photograph. But tap it with a steel rod and instead of a solid thunk you get a hollow drum note, and that sound means the soil that's supposed to be carrying the slab has pulled away or washed out. In Highlands Ranch that sound is common, and the reason sits under every lot in town.
How Douglas County clay hollows out a slab base
The bentonite-bearing clays here shrink hard when they dry, and this is a high, windy, sun-exposed town where summer pulls moisture out of the ground week after week. As the clay shrinks, it drops away from the underside of driveways, walks, garage aprons, and basement floors. The slab doesn't move yet. Concrete is good at bridging for a while. What you have in the meantime is a slab spanning an air gap, waiting for the load or the season that breaks the span.
Water carves the other kind of void. Chinook winters mean repeated melt events all season, and each one sends water along slab edges and down old foundation backfill, carrying fines with it. A downspout that dumps at a slab corner can excavate a real cavity in a couple of springs. And because the neighborhoods here were built in a handful of construction waves, the same voids tend to show up under the same slab types across a whole street at about the same age. Why filling early beats lifting later
Void fill is prevention. We pump the cavity solid before the slab drops, and the slab never needs lifting at all. Wait, and the same void becomes a settlement job with a crack through the middle of it.

The cured slurry is heavier than the soil around it and doesn't wash out, so a filled void stays filled. Half a day on site for most jobs, and the slab is back in service the same day, which matters when the void is under the garage apron you park on or the front stoop everyone uses.

Tap your slabs with a screwdriver handle: the garage apron, the sidewalk near downspouts, the basement floor along the perimeter, the driveway panels by the street. A solid thud means the slab is bedded. A hollow tone means there's a gap.
